These workshops will help you hone your presentation skills for the Symposium, with sessions for participants who are giving an oral presentation, presenting a poster, or reading a paper.

Creating an Engaging Oral/Slide Presentation

Get oral presentation tips, with special emphasis on how to use presentation software such as Prezi, PowerPoint, and Google Slides to keep your audience’s attention. You also will hear about ways to recover when things go wrong.

Designing an Effective Research Poster

Learn strategies for creating a great research poster, from selecting your content to choosing design elements that best showcase your work. Please come with a print copy of the research paper on which your poster will be based.

Delivering a Polished Paper Presentation

Gain confidence for delivering your presentation as we cover public speaking skills such as eye contact, annunciation, and creating “attention grabbers.” Students are welcome, but not required, to bring their papers to the session.
