Title: Experience Equals Success in Division I Volleyball
Developed under the guidance of Dr. Jennifer Bunn , Exercise Science
The purpose of this research was to evaluate the relationship between playing experience and success of NCAA Division I collegiate volleyball programs. Data were gathered from 2013-2015, for each volleyball program in the “power five” conferences. Players that played at least 66% percent of the sets were tallied, while linking their years of experience playing collegiate volleyball. Years of experience was significantly positively correlated (p less than .05) with season record, conference record, attack percentage, kills, kills/set, assists, assists/set, block assists, and blocks/set. Years of experience was negatively correlated (p less than .05) with RPI, reception errors, reception errors/set, and block errors.
