Title: Dissolution Rate of Encapsulated Prednisone Nanoparticles
Developed under the guidance of Dr. Mali R. Gupta , Pharmaceutical Sciences
Prednisone is a corticosteroid used as an anti-inflammatory or an immunosuppressant agent and is poorly soluble in water. Nanoparticles (NP) are submicron colloidal particles having a size less than 1μm. NPs generally show higher dissolution rates as compared to the drug substance with larger particle size. In this study, Prednisone NPs will be prepared using electrospray method. The dissolution of encapsulated NPs will be compared with encapsulated unprocessed powder using a non-compendial validated dissolution method. The advantage of this study is to improve the bioavailability of poorly soluble Prednisone drug.
