Title: Taste Masking of Isoniazid by Spray Drying Technique
Developed under the guidance of Dr. Rahul Haware , Pharmaceutical Sciences
The current study is based on taste masking of the antitubercular drug Isoniazid. Isoniazid is a bitter tasting drug that reduces patient compliance. Taste masking will be achieved by microencapsulating the drug using an electrostatic crosslinking mechanism. The project follows a DM3 approach. The DM3 strategy utilizes Design of Experiment(D) and Multivariate analysis technique(M3) to study the impact of the manufacturing processes(M1). The macroscopic properties(M2) of the spray dried product will be evaluated using Scanning Electron Microscopy. The formulations obtained after the spray dryer runs will be tested for their yield, physical properties, loading efficiency, and taste masking.
