Title: Partial ACL Tear with Grade II Chondromalia
Developed under the guidance of Dr. Sarah Christie , Exercise Science
Background: A male colligate soccer goal keeper jumped and was undercut by an opponent. He landed on his left side and was unable to bare weight on the extremity. Uniqueness: According to the radiologist the diagnosis was a partially torn ACL of the left knee with femoral stress fracture. However, the orthopedic surgeon determined a partially torn ACL, a lateral femoral condyle contusion, and grade II chondromalacia of the medial patellar facet. Conclusion: There are multiple healthcare providers that facilitate in determining an appropriate diagnosis but it is essential to have a thorough evaluation and not rely solely on imaging.
