Title: Determination of the Stoichiometry between an Anionic Surfactant and a Self-Assembled Aggregate
Developed under the guidance of Dr. Jordan Womick , Chemistry

Quantitative investigations on these interactions between surfactants and supramolecular assemblies are few. The purpose of this study is to determine the ratio of binding between a negatively charged surfactant, based off of a pyrene derivative, and a self-assembled aggregate. Absorbance and fluorescence properties will be observed. A previous study found that the ratio of binding to a positively charged surfactant was one-to-one to the monomer which has a net negative charge overall. This study will help designate the importance of ionic interactions in the presence of other attraction mechanisms.
