Title: Formulation and Characterization of Ibuprofen Loaded Nanoparticles using Defatted Milk Proteins as Emulsifiers
Developed under the guidance of Dr. Qinfeng Liu , Pharmaceutical Sciences
A novel nanoemulsion drug delivery system is proposed to increase drug solubility of poorly water soluble drugs. A milk based O/W Ibuprofen nanoemulsion will be developed using nonfat milk proteins as natural emulsifiers. The formulation will be optimized to achieve maximum stability, drug encapsulation yield and reproducible emulsion particle size. The optimized emulsion will be freeze dried to produce a powder formulation and will be characterized. The developed nanoparticles will serve as an important tool in developing pediatric friendly dosage formulations which helps children to access many water insoluble drugs.
