Title: A Structure-Mechanics relationship on Tablet Performance of Flufenamic Acid Polymorphs
Developed under the guidance of Dr. Rahul Haware , Pharmaceutical Sciences
Tablets are the most preferred oral dosage forms. A limited quantity of the drug and time constraint makes it difficult to adopt trial and error techniques for optimizing tablet formulations using excipients. Characterizing the compression properties of the drug is desirable in early development stage. Fluefenamic acid (FFA), an anti-inflammatory drug is chosen for the study. The current study addresses the difference in tableting performance of FFA form I and III. A quantitative correlation between crystal structure (crystal anisotropy using Young’s elastic moduli) and macroscopic mechanics( tabletability, compressibility, bulk moduli) will be established for FFA polymorphs using multivariate analysis.
