Title: An Analysis of United States Childhood Vaccination Trends and Predictors of Uptake for Years 2008-2014 Utilizing the National Immunization Survey
Developed under the guidance of Dr. Melissa Holland , Clinical Research
Each year approximately 300 children die from vaccine preventable diseases, while 33,000 lives are saved. Vaccines prevent 14 million cases of disease and reduce healthcare costs by $9.9 billion for each birth cohort which follows the recommended vaccination schedule. The rates of recommended vaccinations for children 19-35 months should be increasing, instead the rates have been wavering, possibly due to highly publicized fabricated study results. This retrospective cross-sectional analysis will investigate vaccination coverage trends utilizing the National Immunization Survey (2008-2014) to try and assess the media impact as well as evaluating predictors of vaccination.
