Friends of the Library

As a Friend of Wiggins Memorial Library, you will be an invaluable resource for students on their journey toward Leading with Purpose. Your support will demonstrate your passion for the power of our libraries to inspire and empower the Campbell community through our collections, facilities, and services.

The Friends group is made up of alumni, faculty, staff, and other supporters of Campbell University Libraries. Members carry out their work primarily through annual dues, special gifts, and endowments that help bolster our circulating collection, fund new technologies, and enhance our facilities. The Friends recently funded an Archival Reading Room.

Borrowing Privileges

Check out an unlimited number of books, three DVDs plus one video game at a time, music CDs, and selected technology items. Take advantage of several special collections as well.

While not exclusive to Friends, access to Campbell's Digital Archives offers student newspapers, yearbooks, sermons, and more going back to the 1880s. The inviting Periodicals Reading Room and Theological Reference area are hugely popular, and tinkerers will enjoy the Idea Lab/Makerspace, which houses 3-D and poster printing along with assorted tools and materials for crafts.

Annual Dinner

Enjoy an annual fall dinner with other supporters plus Campbell faculty, staff, and students. Each year, a distinguished guest speaker addresses the Friends on a topic related to a current library special event or exhibit.

Organizational Structure

Campbell University's Friends of the Library is governed by an Executive Committee consisting of a President and Vice President elected at each year's Annual Meeting. The Secretary-Treasurer is the Dean of the Library or her/his designee.

The Endowment Funds

If you would like to donate to the endowment funds specific to the library, you can click at the Make a Gift button below to go to Campbell's fundraising site. Please select "Other" under the "Please give my gift to" dropdown menu on the fundraising webpage and then type in your endowment designation.

The Carl P. Norris Library Endowment Fund, named in honor of a 1901 Campbell alumnus and dentist

Supports the purchase of special books, equipment, and professional development needs. Here are some recent library purchases supported by this endowment fund:

• Teaching Resource Center technology
• CU Photonegative Archive scanners and computers
• Patron counters for Wiggins Library
• Mobile AV cart and document camera
• Seven new circulating laptops
• Overhead scanner repair costs

Claude E. Teague Library Books

Established to build a collection by North Carolina authors on the history of North Carolina (flora, fauna, people, etc.).

The Faulkner Library Endowment Fund

Used by library staff for conference attendance, workshops/training activities, coursework, research, or other library-related activities. This endowment fund has already supported at least eight professional conference trips for librarians.

The John and Mary Ayscue Library Endowment

Used to purchase books inscribed in John H. Ayscue's memory. Selected by Friends of the Library faculty and staff. Here are some recent library purchases supported by this endowment fund:

• Other books as selected by Friends and faculty

The Library Endowment Fund of Campbell University

Purpose is to support the financial needs of Campbell University library. This endowment fund has already supported at least five professional conference trips for librarians.
